Cloud Development

Cloud development is a term that has more than one meaning. A common definition is that it refers to the creation of software designed to run in the cloud (often called “cloud application development”). “Cloud” refers to the infrastructure that allows resources such as computing power, storage and databases to be made available and used over the internet.

However, cloud development can also refer to the development work itself and the associated processes that are carried out in the cloud, e.g. if development is done using cloud development environments, the code is written via a browser-based IDE or if the CI/CD pipeline is in the cloud.
